Directly opposite the Inn is Harlyn Bay, a beautiful sweep of sand sheltered by Trevose Head with its dramatic cliffs. This naturally beautiful beach is lifeguard patrolled, dog friendly and offers excellent surf and all round family fun. There are also six other beautiful beaches in close proximity, within five minutes drive. The landscape contains enormous variety offering stunning coastal paths to walk, linking the shopping and lively nightlife of Newquay to the quaint old fishing town of Padstow with it's rustic harbour-side pubs and shops. Our local village of St Merryn offers excellent amenities such as public houses, restaurants, doctors' surgery, garage, bakery, post office, newsagent and grocery shops including off-licence premises.

The North Coast has many tempting attributes. Jamie Oliver in Watergate, Paul Ainsworth and Rick Stein in Padstow have all successfully opened now well-established restaurants. It is an ideal centre for touring the many delights of Cornwall. Visit gardens, historic sites, charming villages, cliff tops, rolling countryside and beautiful beaches. Or, if you're inclined, go sailing, fishing, horse riding or water skiing. There are also a host of children's attractions nearby such as the Crealy Adventure Park and Old MacDonald's Farm.

If you're looking for fine dining, consider No.6 on Middle Street for seriously good food. Margot's on Duke Street is a cheery, welcoming little bistro serving an excellent variety of dishes from fresh, local produce.
